Tana studied classical drawing under Nerina Simi in Florence in the 1970s and then in London at the City and Guilds School.  She was made an honorary member of the South London Artists and in 2008 was elected a full member of the Armed Forces Art Society in 2008. She has exhibited in Camberwell and at the Mall Galleries in London and, more recently, at the Woodhay Gallery in Newbury, as well as at venues in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Germany.  She works mainly in oils and charcoal and is particularly drawn to subjects with a human interest and to scenes from her travels abroad.  She has won a number of prizes including:
Chemring Prize for Best Picture at annual Army Art Society Exhibition in Salisbury (2007, 2010 and 2013)
SCS Prize for Best Small Picture at AFAS Exhibition Mall Galleries London
Chemring Runners-Up Prize at AAS Exhibition Salisbury
